Bill’s Best Interview
Check out the latest video from the funniest person in the car business: Joe Webb. Great parody video of a horrendous candidate applying for an Internet Sales Director position at a car dealership.
Have you interviewed anyone like this?
Does Google’s Nexus One Trump iPhone?
I’ve got to believe Steve Jobs is in an office somewhere, screaming his head off at someone. Google’s Nexus One is downright bad-ass.
I wonder if a frustrated designer at Apple got a better gig at Google and was given the freedom to do all the things Apple wouldn’t let him do?
How Real Time Google Search Results Changes Things
Google’s bag of tricks is seemingly never ending.
Real time search results can now be seen in the form of status updates from Twitter, Facebook and MySpace users. Real time results will also be viewable for iPhone and Android users. While searching various terms I noticed various news and article content displayed as well.
How does this change things for someone searching for info? Some pros & cons:
- Updated, targeted information is good
- Updated noise coming from status updates is not good
- Identifying influential content sources is good
- Filtering the noise makers is not good
- Likelihood of spam updates is not good
How does this change things for online marketers?
- Keyword based status updates can be an element of your Search Engine Optimization strategy
- Additional long tail keyword opportunities may open up
- Additional tracking/measurement opportunities
- Ability to increase exposure without increasing marketing budget
I’d bet that Google will create a way to filter real-time content, in a contextual manner, based on an authoritative profile ranking within a specific segment.
For example : My status updates regarding relevant automotive content from @AuctionDirect should, in theory, rank higher than someone updating their status about the fact they just watched the movie Used Cars for the 300th time.
What’s your take on Google providing real time search results? Good, bad or indifferent?

Wibiya Community Toolbar Overview
Are your doing everything possible to build a community around your brand?
Here’s a great way to improve your social media optimization efforts. Make it easy for your visitors to access your content and then create an easier way to participate and share – sounds simple enough, but what’s the best way to accomplish this?
Wibiya.com has one solution: Custom web-based tool bars that are very easy to create, implement and manage. Dr. Yossi Vardi created the company responsible for the Wibiya toolbar, Modular Patterns Ltd.
Initially intended for blogs, I’m testing it on Auction Direct USA. The simplicity impressed me and more importantly, initial feedback and results have been positive. Here’s a quick overview:
The toolbar is still in beta phase and some technical glitches should be expected. The few issues I have seen were quickly resolved. Hopefully new releases will continue to build on the interactive elements available. Some features and options I’d like to see added:
- Chat
- Ability to add more custom, quick links
- Video access (YouTube, Vimeo, etc)
- Google Friend Connect
- Multiple RSS feed subscription options
- IE8 bug fixes
You can follow their updates on Twitter @wibiya. Forever Lulu the movie
Thumbs up on this solution; future updates will surely improve its overall effectiveness.
