The Matador movie full

David Letterman recently had some fun, at the expense of Sarah Palin’s daughter.

Before I go any further – let’s be sure we all understand one fundamental point: This is NOT a political post. Save yourself the keystrokes before commenting about how I’m anti-Republican, pro-Democrat or how I should worship the ground Rush Limbaugh walks on.

Dave made a couple of sexual jokes about Sarah Palin’s daughter involving Alex Rodriguez (NY Yankees) and Elliot Spitzer. (Ex-NY Governor) Not necessarily his best material, but it was an easy, timely target.

What kills me are the responses from both Sarah and Todd Palin. From their Facebook page. Watch the video and you’ll hear their comments.

They took a desperate, off-course approach by saying the jokes about their 14yr. old daughter were inappropriate. Of course, if that’s who he was talking about, it would have been uncalled for. But, he wasn’t talking about the 14yr. old. He was talking about the one considered an adult now. (And the argument that she’s a young adult is weak. She was old enough to…well, you know the rest)

0 David Letterman Jokes About Sarah Palin

I find it mildly amusing that the person who had a shot at holding, what many consider, the second highest ranking job in the free world, would use Facebook to voice her comments.

I use Facebook to laugh at old pictures of me and my fraternity friends doing ridiculous things that late night TV hosts would use against me if I ran for office. Ah, the power of Facebook.

Public officials, especially those running for a spot in the White House, have to expect to be thrown under the bus. Public officials with a teenager who is already a parent, well, that’s simply a teed-up ball waiting to be smacked out of the park.

Their Facebook comments made Dave’s “apology” a grand slam.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on the Palin’s comments as well as Dave’s jokes. (But please, don’t make it a political discussion. That’s not what this about.)

    DAVID LETTERMAN'S HATE, ETC. !

David Letterman's hate is as old as some ancient Hebrew prophets.
Speaking of anti-Semitism, it's Jerry Falwell and other fundy leaders who've gleefully predicted that in the future EVERY nation will be against Israel (an international first?) and that TWO-THIRDS of all Jews will be killed, right?
Wrong! It's the ancient Hebrew prophet Zechariah who predicted all this in the 13th and 14th chapters of his book! The last prophet, Malachi, explains the reason for this future Holocaust that'll outdo even Hitler's by stating that “Judah hath dealt treacherously” and “the Lord will cut off the man that doeth this” and asks “Why do we deal treacherously every man against his brother?”
Haven't evangelicals generally been the best friends of Israel and Jewish persons? Then please explain the recent filthy, hate-filled, back-stabbing tirades by David Letterman (and Sandra Bernhard) against a leading evangelical named Sarah Palin, and explain why most Jewish leaders have seemingly condoned Palin's continuing “crucifixion”!
While David and Sandra are tragically turning comedy into tragedy, they are also helping to speed up and fulfill the Final Holocaust a la Zechariah and Malachi, thus helping to make the Bible even more believable!

Who cares. Letterman needs ratings, Palin is a joke and if you choose to be in the spotlight (politics, sports, acting etc.) you are fair game. Boo hoo.

    True, true and spot on.

    I like your thinking.

    Wow.

You took away all of this, from what was simply a sophomoric monologue joke, written by one of the intern-hack writers looking to make his first impression on the other writers, that all of this somehow relates to anti-Semitism?

You, my friend, should probably not be watching late night talk show comedy.

I respect your opinions and have gladly approved them for others to see.

    Again, wow.

Limbaugh goes WAY over the line every day. Didn't he say Chelsea Clinton was ugly when she was only 12? Grade school cruelty at best. But as much as he disgusts me I wouldn't suggest censorship of him or anyone else. Letterman said it best…poor taste yes, funny, matter of taste. But Palin teed up that ball with the whole prudish abstinance … Read Moreposition. The irony and hypocrisy of the situation is too juicy for a comedian to ignore. Mark Twain, Will Rogers and Lenny Bruce would have been all over it too. We have free speech in this country. People fought and died to preserve it. If the “boundaries” can be broken and Sarah Palin's daughter can be paraded out on stage at a convention to earn votes and go on Barbara Walters or whatever then she's in the public eye of her OWN choosing. Period. Cant have it both ways.

Excellent point about the “kids” being used as tools by the parents; there can't be one way boundaries.

    Thanks Andy.
